This seems to be spread by the really deranged furries who are desperate for their interest/kink to be acknowledged as a legitimate biological thing like homosexuality.
I seriously wouldn't put any faith in that word. Especially in the case of Mass Effect. The Asari were pretty much designed to be sexually attractive. It starts getting a little weirder when you get into the Turians and such, but there's no way you can convince me that asari are in any way furry.

I don't have to find the Asari super attractive to be able to acknowledge that the art team of this game didn't mean for her to be hot.
