Could have been a great idea for the pokemon staff to explore a relationship between her and Kiawe gradually and organically, and for the first time give Ash a development of character when considering what happens among his friends. It would also have been funny to see Mallow asking for romantic advice from her female friends, and Kiawe realizing that he only has a couple of retards as support.
