Compare the devs of Lovesick to Touhou; The former wanted to make a game to get back at the shitty dev, but they ended up becoming just like the person they hated, by using the "IT'S JUST MY STYLE" excuses and showing other typical internet lolcow behavior. They ended up just making a bland version of Yandere Sim.
Then Touhou, the ZUN made the game simply because "there wasn't a game with qt shrine maidens, so I just made one on my own". It's a neutral and healthy approach that isn't from being malicious to a certain person/group.
