Likewise Dark Pit only has different properties to his side B and back air. Pichu or Young Link are in fact more accurate comparisons for that anon's example. They are different or heavily edited models that reuse animations but have different properties all around from their speed to their weight to their attacks. Some animations may even be entirely their own.
Riolu is obviously not close to Lucario's size and as such could not function as an echo. It'd be a standard clone.
