the original sprite looks completely deflated by comparison, has tiny arms and the spikes jut out near the back of the head instead of being centered around the head
even the one pokemon card banette got in 2004 which was ALSO obviously off-model (like many cards, especially at the time) still had significantly more in common with the current design than the RSE sprite
