Long Version: I have a copy of StableDiffusion running on my PC (AI image generator.) That map is actually a shop of many different AI images (anything labelled is from an entirely different AI image, and the main island+ocean+desert peninsula is three different images alone). I think what really brings it to life, and into the pokemon world, is the usage of the pokemon font+names, to make this random island pokemon-specific, and the dotted line routes to help one envision wandering through the worldspace. I also avoided making the image to a precise scale, using cartoon scaling (bigger=more important) to add emphasis to areas around the map.
That being said, AI slop generation, so take it as you will. Anyone with some basic PS knowhow and an image generator could do the same.
