extraregional pokemon should have some story about belonging to an immigrant family, or being a rescued trophy or poached or smth
UBs/paradoxes/legendaries: just don't
unless you're going to dedicate a lot of writing to the hunting/capture of, maintenance, interpersonal dynamics etc.
if you're handing out something that powerful it becomes a plot point and needs to be handled delicately
