The most important thing is that they nail the Pokémon designs like in Gen 8. It’s why I’m able to enjoy Sword and Shield despite them being unpolished turds. Besides that I just want features that were present in previous games to return like having your Pokémon follow you for the whole journey, revisiting another region like Kanto in G/S/C, compelling post game area and content like Battle Resort in Sinnoh, Sevi Isles, and Battle Frontier that give the game better longevity. A difficult setting from the onset of the game would be wonderful. And I really wish they would cut down the obnoxious frontload of cutscenes and tutorials that started with X/Y. Really hinders replay value.
Consistent presentation should be an emphasis after Sword and Shield became victims of the Pokémon machine. I would love for Pokémon to go back to 60 FPS like in Gen 3 as well. The silky smooth speed of those games really is something special.
One small tidbit that I REALLY miss is the look and feel of the PC boxes. I think the new ones are hideous to look at and you can’t unlock awesome wallpapers to use...
