Geeta was one of the first Paldean leaders during the Great War. Given the real world timeline, it’s possible that Paldea and Kalos went to war. What if AZ fired the weapon directly at the old Paldean empire. It would make sense because the castle would have been in the center of the region. Area Zero is also covered in crystal, which would make sense for an impact spot. Geeta became trapped in Area Zero after the weapon impacted, slowly being warped and mutated by the disc mon, giving her an unusual appearance. AZ received a similar effect after firing the weapon, becoming immortal and gaining abnormal height. Geeta and AZ, both affected by the great weapon in some direct capacity. With Geeta trapped in Area Zero, she made contact with the disc and eventually escaping, was groomed into working to achieve the discs desires, taking over the region and establishing the Pokémon league.
