The Tobias method is not so bad, but they must have given him more foreshadowing so that he did not feel so forced, like leaving clues in the middle of the season of a mysterious trainer who was beating gyms with only one pokemon.
But my favorite was the Alain protocol, because it was a huge middle finger in the face of gullible fans. Oh the massive butthurt was beautiful.
Tyson was meh, and Richie.. I don't even know whether to count as one, since it was really Ash's fault (Using a Pokemon that ignores you in an official tournament)
The manga was better, Ash is disqualified because his Charizard almost killed Richie's Charizard.
