I asked them a year or two ago, my mom when we were in the car and she said pikachu all excited because she knew one. When my dad got home later that day I asked him and he didnt answer for a second. My mom pointed excitedly saying "HA he doesnt even know a single one!" He quickly corrected her with "No I was just trying to decide whether I liked ponyta or onix" It gave me a big smile. He probably doesn't know any past gen 1. I was a lot more vocal about my hobbies back then.
