I just tested it on PC and it doesn't reload the page or anything when swapping filters, so I'm not too sure. All I noticed it did when I opted for custom sprites only is it hid all the auto-genned gray background sprites / pokemon listings. So for example, looking at Squirtle's page as a head, there's no custom for Pidgeotto / Pidgeot - when I toggle the custom sprites only filter, their listings disappear from view.
