>>35783779They may not add anything to the competitive scene, but they add a lot to the game's feel. Like how night, seasons, shinies, and following pokemon are "useless" features, but add a lot to the game's quality. People who only care for battling will play showdown.
That being said, GF failed to implement them appropriately. Slightly higher BST throughout the line and early wild encounters for babies would've fixed most problems.
