The way each one gets worse as they evolve and hierarchy established in the beginning remains consistent makes me wonder if Game Freak planned this. Fennekin ending up as the absolute worst while Charizard is simultaneously available and gets god tier mega evos is too much of a coincidence. These starters were definitely designed to fail and be replaced.
