Before anything, one must consider the origins of the board, in which it was born due to the fact that Pokemon threads used to flood /v/ and as such our origins are that of a containment board. Naturally this lends us to being more cancerous and being prone to /v/ negativism, but that alone does not answer the question. rather we need to look at when X and Y came out two years ago, now at first it was fine and all, but it would prove to later be ruinous. First off the Wifi generals and giveaways brought outsiders into /vp/ on a scale not previously possible, the issue here was that a sizeable enough chunk of these newcomers did not integrate and instead imposed their demeanour onto the board, bringing a wave of underaged faggotry. Then there was the fact of hacking and injecting, which then made the breeding community (shiny or otherwise) null, and brought about a mass influx of shitposting from both sides that, at times, drowned the board. This is better now but the damage was done. And then there's the issue of showderp, which basically caused /s4s/ to fester here and practically ensure there was constant shitposting here. And let's not forget the Goodraposter, whose autism and fervent dedication added yet another tier of shitposting (in part due to the fact that there were too many people too new or retarded to ignore it). Additionally there was /r9k/ leaking across 4chan, causing Pepe to spread everywhere. Now /vp/ was already crippled with /s4s/ running amok, /v/ being their inflammatory selves, and other shitpostings all of which helped to propagate the frogposting. Another thing was the Anime becoming its own General, the consequences of that were, along with the longstanding issue of there being a natural bias against it, basically doomed any thread that dared to tread into Anime territory be redirected to said general...
