>>47623725Regarding the money on the game, it has a completely different meaning to the one that circulates in society. There were many limitations overcome with what could be done with the game boy. So I thought to myself what what I wanted to do the most. As trading pokemon was the priority so the part of trading for money was discarded. As a result, the game became simpler and easy to understand for first-time players.
Technological prowess is necessary to execute ideas.
-Pokemon names seem closer to nicknames rather than academic names
Tajiri:At first, I thought about the player being able to name the new species they found by themselves but that was discarded as the Game Boy didn't allow it. Even then, that feeling is right there in a way in the pokemon's names isn't it? By the way, we did an internal monitoring within the company and many wanted to name the pokemon themselves. But, in order to make such a system, we had to decrease the amount of pokemon to collect. At the time we had about 100 pokemon which would have had to be reduced to 30 to keep the naming system. But you can want to name the pokemon yourself don't you?
So we gave up and went with that. Then from Nintendo came Miyamoto “ok, in order to catch many pokemon I'll gift with more RAM” and suddenly BANG, the capacity multiplied 4 times. Thanks to this, the pokemon we gave up in all returned. I always try to make games where the appeal is not the technological prowess, as I don't think that's the appeal of games. But, If the technological capabilities are not there I wont be able to do the games I want will I?
