The thing people don't understand is that if you lived in the Pokemon world, then Pokemon would be normalized. They wouldn't seem like fantasy creatures to you if you lived there your whole life. You wouldn't be any more or less special than you currently are. And the same goes for any fantasy setting. This is why escapism, in my opinion, is a dangerous concept, because it convinces people of this idea that there must be a better world out there beyond the mundane. But by taking this idea and working our way backwards, we can fully begin to realize that our reality which we currently live is an incredible place and its every bit as fantastic and mysterious as the Pokemon world is. We simply have different things we consider the mundane than they do
