Now how could that apply to you? As long as you don't care about friendzone, you could befriend girls who like Pokemon or are in communities focused on it. If you become more, great! If not, you made an internet friend who you can keep or slowly lose touch with over time, as so often happens.
If you go in looking for a relation from the start, I'd think more likely to not succeed. Things like speed dating at cons might be more your starting point then.
