The name Ingo specifically, since its very German, made a lot of people believe that they were from Poke-Germany. I have war flashbacks when I remember all the fics from a decade ago where they had the accents... And yet despite the cringe I still want to say they're probably of Poke-Germanic origins and I am huffing loads of copium hoping Gen 10 takes place in Poke-Germany. I guess I can see why they might seem Japanese because the way they act is more like a huge exaggeration of a Japanese train conductor than an American one, but this could be chalked up to the game being made by Japanese devs who really don't realize how unique the train culture is over there.
