Those were the rawest sentiments they wanted to get across. The tone of the scene sets it up as a positive. So by any sort of generic metric, we can say that until MIsty steps it up, there's nothing that can touch amour canon. By the very nature of the show, it is untouchable, because it can always be assumed they met up again when they were 13 or something, which we would never see happen.
Even if she appeared in an episode, they would just continue the teasing. Which would extend the lifespan of amour indefinitely again, until the day he expresses interest in Misty or he dies off.
