Plus, the hidden depths of you are ALWAYS there. The surface changes, the depths do not. And anyways, that was necessary to his growth as a person. He wouldn't be who he is without what he was.
This is why Im hoping for some deeper character development episodes. Serena needs to understand this. I hope she goes through a period where she's disgusted with him or something, and then realizes why it had to be so. It would be HER character development.
