The problem with this design philosophy is that it's clearly ment to be for a distinguished, "one and only" character rather than a species of wild creatures that eat, breed and battle on a daily basis. Now you can say this existed before, therefore it's fine. However, this doesn't mean it's always a good design choice, especially over the other option. Sobble's final evo is such case.
