Then select all of its vertices and select
2.79 : Mesh > Vertices > Remove Doubles
2.80 : Mesh > Clean-up > Merge by Distance
Blender should ask you for a distance, click on the left arrow until the distance doesn't go down anymore
The model will be smooth after this
Note that you have to check if everything went well by opening the mouth if you're doing this with faces, because sometimes the mouth vertices get stuck with each other (I only experienced this with Camilla and Maylene so far)
