Since they're at it, they should touch on the topic of extinct ecological niches (I don't remember if it's the correct term) where animals and plants evolved in a way for an ecological environment that no longer exists.
The best examples are the American camels that evolved to eat cacti, but migrated to Asia where these plants do not exist and the American pronghorn, the second fastest animal on earth that evolved to avoid its predator the American chettah (Miracinonyx), but it became extinct in the last ice age and the pronghorn maintained its speed although now it no longer needs it.
