>>36410963Not even joking, encountering Hoenn's gym leaders for the first time is a hellish experience. To this point, Kanto and Johto had maybe two Gym leaders who catch you off guard but Hoenn feels like a whole different story.
>Roxanne's Nosepass eating your Water Guns and Absorbs due to not having that 4x weakness that you'd be steamrolling Geodude and Onyx over, and dealing those Rock Throws and Tombs in return>Brawly's bulky Makuhita that shrugs off Ralts's Confusions and dishes out Arm Thrusts>Wattson with a Selfdestructing Voltorb and his Magneton's Sonic Booms which are kinda fuckin vicious early in the game, let alone dealing with his Shock Waving if you didn't choose Mudkip or Treecko>Flannery's Torkoal spamming fucking Attract and Overheat, even worse in Emerald with the White Herb>Norman's Slaking's who can take a few hits and deal some nasty damage with Facade>Coming off of WInona's Aerial Ace spam only to be introduced to her Altaria who will like Earthquake the shit out of your Electric type>Tate & Liza's double battle, at least you can sort of sweep them with SurfWallace is like the only breather and he's the very end. Even then, his Pokemon are still pretty damn bulky and Juan who replaces him throws a vicious Kingdra at you.
