I've been working on a team recently to try and make Granbull work in OU. Fairy typing really fixed his biggest weakness in past generations.
I EV'd Granbull to be able to switch into a CB Garchomp EQ and KO back with Play Rough. Since I'm running so much defense investment, I'm running CB myself to try and compensate for the lack of Attack investment. He basically just functions as a check to high power dragons like Garchomp and other physical threats. He's a really solid switch into pretty much anything since after intimidate most things 3HKO him at best. Crunch lets me deal with Aegislashes and other ghost types trying to switch in, EQ lets me actually challenge Aegislash and other Steels head on, Play Rough for STAB, and Rock Slide over SE to more reliably deal with Talonflame.
Mega Charizard X is something new I'm trying to fill the role of a setup sweeper in the mid-to-late game since I lacked that on the team prior. Roost helps me cover my entrance as regular Charizard and also fight Talonflame and Greninja a little more effectively.
Starmie feels like the weakest link. He was originally added to help deal with a pretty large fire weakness that my team had during early testing as well as providing Rapid Spin support, but he doesn't really seem to hit hard enough and most of the time I'd rather just deal with SR than risk throwing Starmie out to RS. I'm considering Tentacruel as a more bulky spin support option.
