>>43254068What's there to even compete for?? OBVIOUSLY there's going to be a big skill gap between somebody learning the ropes, and somebody who already has some experience. Especially for this hobby, all comparison does is hold yourself to bullshit sky-high metric that only invokes negativity and absolutely does NOT help you in the long run.
This isn't a fucking game show where the bottom of the leaderboard gets kicked. Nobody's being weeded out. Anybody who had the courage to upload their work here, no matter how inadequate, is already in it for the long haul, and they WILL get better in time.
>>43254108Nobody's denying anything here, anon. The "aspiring to be greater" part and admiring what others do well is good, the comparison part is bad. The problem is that actually pitting artists against each other was uncalled for and creates toxicity. It's the equivalent of making fun of an unfit person trying to work out at a gym. It's a dick move, and shallow.
I used to be far worse than I am right now, not even that long ago, and if I were ranked last in this setting I'd be upset right now. Because I already knew I was bad, and rubbing it in my face like that when I just wanted to contribute is needlessly harsh.
