Pokémon is a children's game that even most children would consider too easy. But you're right - why leave any chance of failure in the game at all? I don't allow opponents the privilege of beating me online, why should I let npc's? They're just pixels. I get the losing experience enough from real life. So if I want to click surf to win, I've earned it. Steven, Wallace, Brendan... they didn't put in the effort of defeating a crime syndicate or getting the blue orb.
