When I played Pearl I thought Cheryl was friend with Gardenia. I don't mean "I know they're not friends but I'll headcanon it", I mean that somehow I really thought this was mentioned somewhere in t he game. You help her go through Eterna Forest and the most noteworthy thing on the other side is Gardenia's gym. Gardenia is also a Grass gym and Cheryl's hair looks like leaves. I guess my young self assumed Cheryl MUST be visiting her friend. Only when I replayed the game last year did I notice that Cheryl never mentions Gardenia at all.
