The bigger the fart-sniffer/"pseudo intellectual" the more they'll hate RNG stuff
A percentage of the people that like competitive Pokemon are full on "battles are srs bsns" autismos, so they'll immediately REEEEEEE at any perceived tilt in favor of random/good luck (same problem with the guys that play Magic the Gathering and the like, trying to minimize any possible margin of error)
To be fair to those guys, luck really isn't entirely indicative of skill and if they found a balance that works so they can enjoy their "competitive" arena then great for them, but you won't find any supporters to your cause because it isn't just about making a shitmon marginally playable, it's that the idea of furthering the chances of things not going exactly as planned/meta make the worst members of that group of people visibly froth at the mouth
