So basically everything was warped and distorted all the time (and to top if off, DPP's environmental details were very simple in design and used a washed out color pallette)

You can't see shit because the camera if zoomed in too far and at the same time everything is blurry and jaggy because it's too zoomed out. Then the camera fully zooms in for cutscenes and it's a low-poly low-reso nightmare that gave me flashbacks of Spirit Tracks.
Gen 6 might not have been technically impressive but at least it was aware of what system it was going to be played on.
