A bit bored so why not throw a post-apocalyptic survival pokemon setting. You get 1 pokemon, any gen and only what's feasible for a normal person to have, you're a bit of a 'potential' human, but not Ash or Red. Feel free to assume your pokemon is quite smarter than average, you're not gonna get another pokeball in a long time and walled cities only allow people with captured pokemon in + they have a pokemon-per-person limit until you make a name for yourself and work for your badges. No fun friendly battles, you'll probably have to do something risky for a city to get one tho. You also can choose your region if you feel like making a case for it, or assume just a general pokemon world. Maybe even fight alongside your pokemon some way or another since we just had that talk.
Which pokemon, why, and what would you do? Scavenging ruins for TMs and whatnot? Work within a city? Hunt pokemon?
And of course, the most important question of all for those who care, because I'm curious. How close of a partner would you be with them? Does wanting to wife/husband 'em up change your pokemon choice and survival plan?
