At the end of XY&Z, Ash rejects Serena. Serena, jealous of Ash's bond with Pikachu, then joins Team [Alola Bad Guys] in hopes of harnessing the legendary Pokemon Magearna's power to force Ash to be hers. As Ash gains more gym badges, Zygarde appears in different forms to warn Ash and friends of Serena's deeds. He teaches Ash how to synchro with Pokemon properly, as he had forgotten how to due to synchronizing prematurely with Greninja. Meanwhile, Magearna, who has been watching Serena from the Eclipse realm, empathizes with her, as it reminds her of when Volcanion rejected her. It empathizes with her so much that when they finally meet, they synchronize to form Serena Magearna. Magearna's power and emotion corrupts Serena to the point that she wants to destroy the world. Mid story Serena kidnaps Chicken in a jealous rage. Final episode, which is the final part of a 5 episode mini arc, is Ash Solgaleo and Faggot Rival Lunaala vs Serena Magearna during a dimension warping eclipse as Zygarde Final Form hastens to keep the citizens of PokeEarth safe from Team [Insert Alola region bad guys here].
