I'll post what I have.
Region: Rostella/Restella (Final Spelling TBD)
No """gimmick""" really. The major theme though is split evolutions. A bunch of Pokemon will have split final evos (similar to Appletun/flapple), but they will not be version exclusive. The exact mechanic how you get which evolution is something I don't know yet. The primary split evos you will see a lot are the starters. From what I've been able to gather, they go one way or another depending on a variety of factors. Sometimes it can be moveset (if most moves and phys/special/status), or their location of evolution, or possibly stats for some. The idea of Rostella is the importance of "No fear in choosing your own path", hence the split evos. I don't know most of the dex, so I can't confirm how much this will be used.
But it looks like the initial dex will be 82 (this does include regional variants and split evos) Don't get too hyped the """differences""" between the splits are somewhat minor. But they can be different types.
One I saw was Smeargle who gets two new evos at the art school (schools are a huge theme throughout the game).
Smeargle is going to be more of an introductory mon for the new """mechanic""". Based on what moves he sketches from other mons, will determine which way he evolves. I only saw the one, but it's called "Doggoya) (Seriously. Fucking "Doggo" in the name) and his little hat/barrett becomes a lot more fuzzy to cover one eye, his tail gets longer/bigger, and he gets a spot pattern on his back that looks like a painters palette.
