Here's the thing, even without the recent WPM leak, there was strong evidence to support the fact that we would get a new type in Gen VI.
I'm talking of course about Sylvion. This Eevee evolution spurred a lot of discussion about what type it would be. Most of the theories were retarded (flying, ghost, etc) because there was really only one type that it looked like, which was normal. This based on all those pink big-eyed normal families like Jigglypuff and the like.
But why would they make the eighth eeveelution a normal, with so many other types to choose from? This led to the very strong theories on it being a new type entirely.
Because of the pokemon it resembled this lead to theories of the new type being fairy, long before the leak went public.
But then there's the much less viable theory regarding the two macot pokemon, Xerneas and Yveltal, i.e. light and sound.
Xerneas shining brightly and Yveltal screeching at the end of the trailer. It's not very likely, and I know I'm grasping at straws, but I'd personally really like to see light and sound be introduced as opposing types this gen.
The leak, obviously, makes it even less likely. Even so, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it as an idea, not a possibility.
