Talk about style and graphics over real substance. Pokemon Light Platinum is my first Pokemon ROM Hack ever. It is the most talked about hack and I've heard how absolutely amazing it is.
Its a disappointment that I didn't enjoy it at all. It just tries to hard to be the 'Everyone is here' Pokemon Edition. Its a grandiose adventure on paper, but it doesn't play out in the game. The cast is so rediculously large where everyone is forgettable. You have too many rivals. I remember there being a Rival gauntlet battle in the middle of some random route and barely remembering who anyone was.
Speaking of the routes, they are incredibly small. This game has two full regions and several ialbds you can visit. It feels like on order to fit in a second region, they had to give up good region sizes in exchange. It barely felt like I've gone anywhere and I made it to the next town in record time.
The story is even worse. Here is every Villain encounter.

>Beat up Grunts
>Beat up admin
>Two legendary Pokemon of a trio fight
>3rd Pokemon completing the trio shows up and stops the fighting
>Rinse and repeat SEVERAL TIMES
Absolutely disappointing first look into ROM Hacks. All style, all graphics but nothing else. Awful trainer battles that were only stressful due to being gauntlets, short routes, oversaturated cast and a terrible story.
I'm starting Pokemon Flora Sky as we speak and I'm hoping for a much better experience.
