Finally got my net working properly enough to download the latest episode. Murdock's probably the Volteccer I'm least interested in, just because the "big manly guy who's into traditionally unmanly things" trope is pretty old. That was basically one of the social link stories for the instructor in SV after all. While the episode didn't push him up in any ranks, I did enjoy it more than I thought I would an episode focused on Murdock. It's great that both of his Pokemon have gotten a chance to show what they contribute, and the episode did make me interested in Alcremie, so the show's doing what it's meant to in shilling the games. I also like that Liko seems to be taking more initiative now. The episode preview showing that she will also be training with Kabu next episode is promising, and then after that is the Hatenna episode. Hopefully that'll take some of the sting out of the housewife memes.
