My favourite locations in Gen I are Viridian Forest , Lavender Town and the SS Anne.
I'm pretty nostalgic over Viridian Forest due to it being the first area where you can catch bug-type Pokemon as well as the rare appearance of Pikachu. I also feel it's really the first true challenge to clear in your journey. Finally, back in the day, I thought I was too cool for school for memorising where every single object is on that map including the hidden items.
Lavender town is just great. I love the music, the atmosphere, and the fact that it introduces the very human element of life and death. Also all the serious mojo that takes place there as well as the various theories and creepy stories it spawned are pretty cool.
SS Anne theme is gorgeous. Each room was exciting to investigate. Finding the Leftovers in the garbage is just so memorable for some reason and it's hilarious to realise I've been clicking on future bins ever since in the hopes of being rewarded the same way only to find that 'nope, there's only trash here'.
