So, since I didn't get any recommendations on what to play since Zeta/Omicron runs like shit on my potato of a laptop, I decided to look around for a hack and I remembered /vr/'s ROMhack thread has their own recommendations of Gen I and II hacks (
http://pastebin.com/pYxhe4L7 if you want to take a look at the full thing). I said a while ago I wanted to play through some of these to see if they were worth putting in the /vp/ pastebin, and since there isn't anything anyone has pressing interest in seeing someone play, I'll go through them until someone has a recommendation for something else.
First one on the list that hasn't been played is Pokémon Maize, a Red hack.
Its advertised features include:
>fan region of Boldor>Steel/Dark/Fairy>phys/spec split>shiny Pokémon in Gen I>day and night>a lot of custom musicAlong with general hack stuff like new moves/items/bug fixes, etc., and apparently a built-in option to Nuzlocke, though I won't be using that.
First thing I notice is the intro, unchanged from Red, is completely silent save for sound effects.
The intro screen could use a little more love, but it does have an original composition, a rather melancholy one at that. The Ampharos blinks at you.
