Pre-ordered the japanese Black and forgot about it. Went in completely blind. Everything felt new and refreshing, from the new dex to the new animations. Could understand enough moonrunes to get a clue on the story. Having Ghetsis as the final boss has to be the best thing this series ever did to its main campaign.
Then you have the new Global Link. It was great to finally be able to battle strangers. And the metagame was pants on head retarded thanks to gems. I loved how so many Pokemon could be viable.
Also, you could transfer all your Pokemon straight away. No waiting a day like gen 4, and for the bank to be released like gen 6.
Then you have the characters and the setting. For the first time we have more personality in building aesthetics, and characters are diverse and unique.
That game came at a perfect time for me. I was getting tired of Pokemon, then GF just decides to dare.
