It's similar to what we have now, but different enough to actually be motivating and exciting
>game takes place in the far future
>in an alternate reality, the evil team has ALREADY won
>dictatorship and cruelty everywhere

>rival isn't actually rival, but a fellow peer in the same faction as you, both vying to bring about the end of this tyranny
>you go around the region, taking down the 8 admins of the evil team, each one holding a key that unlocks the way to the Central Antagonist's Main Headquarters
>eventually, rival friend is captured and exciting plot points ensue, or maybe he betrays you to the enemy... or perhaps he is taken down and disposed of, further fueling you to keep going
>Central Antagonist is the final boss and defeating him brings about the end of their reign and your place in history as the hero
