>>48091259Glad we agree on that. I love Grookey and Thwacky as well though and also find them to be great designs, though I like Rillaboom more. Honestly, they're one of the few three-stage lines where I like every member. It helps that they all have unique designs but a set of consistent traits beyond their tools that carry over with each evolution, helping to connect them all together. They even share a common color theme with Bananas (Grookey is green/underripe, Thwacky is yellowish-green/ripe, and Rillaboom is brown/overripe).
I'll admit the only thing I dislike about his design is that they could have maybe given his drum set a more natural design, but I like the theme of progression from primitive sticks to more effective tools, and he fights pretty well with the Drum whether by either using it to control the natural world around him, or a more direct approach (for one example, Wood Hammer is exclusive to Pokemon that are either made out of wood or have some wooden parts, or that have Wooden tools like Mimikyu or Komala. Rillaboom lacks any wooden parts and isn't made out of wood, but he does have Wooden tools; thus Rillaboom uses Wood Hammer by grabbing the stump and beating the shit out of his opponent with it).
I get why some people dislike the drum, but I honestly don't mind it. His design fits right in with the older generations, I could honestly see Rillaboom hanging around the wild in Hoenn or Sinnoh, maybe even Kanto.
