Finished White after a devastating loss to N a few weeks ago that took me off it. It went much smoother this time due to catching luck+knowing what some of the non-boss trainer threats are that got kills in my last run.
Excadrill was an MVP as expected, and swept Ghetsis at +6 thanks to Swords Dance+Sand Rush. I had rock slide for N's archeops but I should've had X-scissor - the miss chance was scary against eelektross and hydreigon. He also solo'd Shauntal (with substitute instead of sandstorm) and Iris.
Samurott felt a lot better than Emboar, but it has a weird stat spread where it's a mid-speed sweeper without enough bulk to be a true bulky water. I was scared of getting 2-shot after a switch-in, but she KO'd all slower mons under 70% HP so she did her job.
Krookodile really surprised me. Having a strong psychic answer was great (he solo'd Caitlin with a dark gem to ensure the OHKO on reuniclus), and intimidate gave a lot of flexibility. Unfortunately he was still outsped by reshiram and died to fusion flare+hyper beam, which I thought he would survive since he took like 55% from fusion flare and recovered with sitrus berry (must've been the rolls). the heal before ghetsis didn't matter because I switched into excadrill on cofagrigus' toxic t1 and it only has special moves.
Darmanitan didn't come in a lot, but when he did he packed a punch. I was using Simisear up through Brycen, and then decided the OHKO potential was more important than speed so I swapped him out. Simisear was extremely helpful throughout the game though.
I got Jellicent right before Iris and basically only used her in the E4, but I was struggling with fighting-types the whole run and she was the MVP at Marshal. Also set up N's carracosta to be KO'd by leavanny by burning to break sturdy (while easily tanking a crit crunch).
Leavanny is my reliable friend who I will use in any game. Knows his job and does it every time.
Next: Heartgold again after 2 miserable losses to Whitney.
