I've recently been thinking about the fact official material refers to the red thing on Gardevoir as a "plate". To me that means it would feel very solid and very smooth. Perhaps almost like very polished bone.
And that's made me think about just the concept and imagery being really neat. The very slim, clearly very soft body, pierced right through its centre by a solid shard.
