I also don't have trouble winning Voltorb Flip at all. Sometimes you get fucked by RNG with a 50/50 coinflip, but you can weigh the odds regarding how likely a space is to be safe. If you're just hitting spaces at random and ignoring the numbers you won't win very much, but you can get to Level 5-7 without dropping off very easily, and can help prevent dropping off as long as you know the mechanic behind what causes level drops (the number of tiles flipped before a loss determines how many levels you dropped; if you flip as many tiles as the number of the level you're on you won't drop at all if you lose a round).
I feel a lot of people who dislike Voltorb Flip don't fully understand the strategy behind the game. It's basically Picross+Minesweeper, and understanding how to play both of those games will enable you to play this one just fine.
