With a flick of her wrists, Mewtwo Y pops the bubbles protecting you and Serena from bodily harm, the two of you crash to the ground and are allowed free-reign once again. You head to the crater straightaway to check on Mewtwo X.
Mewtwo Y makes it there first, she hovers over her severely weakened counterpart, a contemptful glare on her face.

While it may seem like Mewtwo X no longer has any steam within him, it's quite the contrary. Refusing to give in to her, Mewtwo X grits his teeth and forces himself to prop his elbow up.

He places his other hand on the ground.
Pushing himself up, he gets on one knee.

With one final push, he staggers upward and slams a brittle Mega Punch into Mewtwo Y.
