Platinum had the Underground, Wi-Fi Plaza and even co-op at the Battle Frontier. You earn more Battle Points for winning with friends than you do when playing with Riley, Cheryl, etc. XY had O-Powers where you can share bonuses with friends from the PSS (which itself was fairly intuitive as an interface). ORAS updated Secret Bases where you could share them over Wi-Fi. BW2 had the Entralink Missions where you go would hunt for items together in the overworld.
I fucking miss it all.
