The point of her little explanation was to establish that Mega's and Fairy types have always existed.
The events of other games are unchanged, and still fit in perfectly with the main timeline.
Pic related is a tweet from one of the game writers, and as you can see, X/Y fits in perfectly at the end,happening around the same time as B2/W2 (ala' Gen 2 and 4)
So it wouldn't be a completely new adventure at all, it'd be the same shit with Mega's and Faries.
