Digletts and Dugtrios in the alola region are quite a bit different than the ones in kanto. The alola forms often had poke their heads out to find food, since underground food was not abundant in the region. The normally nocturnal and cave dwelling Digletts and Dugtrios were often burned by the harsh sunlight of the alola region. They began to adapt to this by growing thicker hair over their body to block out the sun. Its fair color reflects a lot of light keeping them cool when poking their heads out. Moving through the ground builds a lot of stack in the thick hair however. the Dugtrios have adapted this as a self defense method, as well as a method for hunting food. They are able to discharge this static to stun prey. This has caused some problems as they would knock out power in towns when they accidentally dig to close to underground power lines.
