Shabao (Flygon) is the first Pokemon she ever captured, a Vibrava left behind from her friends when they were chased off by the Tapu Villagers. She went along with Ming-Ming as an act of pride - She totally wasn't left stranded, and this silly human just happened to best her in a match, so when she gets stronger, then Shabao can fight her again and win!
It just so happened that rematch turned into a friendship, as Shabao really does enjoy Ming-Ming's passion and spirited nature, the two often fighting alongside each other.
Strawberry (Lopunny) on the other hand is a Pokemon left to her by a dear friend of hers. Berry may look sweet and adorable on the outside, but she can be a bit of a naughty one - Some say she looks at people as the bugs they are, though she seems to like Ming-Ming. It may look like Strawberry only stays for the free food, but considering Ming-Ming has a hard time NOT being excessively nice to Pokemon given to her, perhaps the 'punny learned Ming-Ming can't be all that bad to hang around with.
